Self-Compassion Exercises

Exercises:

  1. Self-Compassion Break:
    • Take a deep breath and acknowledge your suffering.
    • Say to yourself, “This is a moment of suffering. Suffering is a part of life. May I be kind to myself.”
  2. Loving-Kindness Meditation:
    • Sit quietly and repeat the following phrases: “May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I be safe. May I live with ease.”
  3. Write a Letter to Yourself:
    • Write a letter to yourself from the perspective of a compassionate friend. Offer kindness and understanding.

Tips:

  • Practice these exercises regularly to develop a habit of self-compassion.
  • Be gentle with yourself; change takes time.
